About AMLF

For A Million Little Fires, the music started in 2016 but life, as always, got in the way. Other endeavors and responsibilities forced a hiatus until frontman Jay Douglas returned to the studio in 2022.

The “reimagining” of a collection of older songs was utilized to knock the rust off. The collection became the Sanction’d album and was released in March of 2023.

At this point, the flood gates of inspiration were opened and that passion found its way into brand new music. AMLF emerged with some of it’s most intense, catchy, and emotional songs to date. “My favorite bands seem intent on bouncing around their respective genres” says Jay Douglas. “They don’t just write the same song over and over.” With this in mind, AMLF focused on drawing elements from rock, metal, pop, electronic and even classical music.

Creating sweeping melodies and electronic programming, the band balanced them against riffs and breakdowns ranging from energetic to downright brutal. Jay was also intent on putting more of himself into his lyrics than ever before, allowing the walls to completely break down. The goal was to make music powerful enough to move an audience physically and emotionally.

In May of 2024, AMLF released “Aspects & Echoes.” This EP focused more on melodic guitar lines, vocal hooks and heavy synths. Fans and press alike took note of the fusion between the band’s driving energy and Jay’s emotional vocals. “Aspects & Echoes” garnered immediate attention and tens of thousands of streams within weeks of release.

Grateful for the response, AMLF isn’t done yet. The full-length album “Violent Halos” (which leans a bit heavier) is scheduled for release in late 2025.
